My project is a short video that showcases the duality of music through film and television. In the first section of the video, I show how sadness is portrayed in films through popular characters with a sad backing track. In the second half of the video, I used those same characters to show how happiness manifests in their journey despite all of the sadness, with a happy backing track off of the same album as the sad backing track. This project goes to show that many extreme emotions can be presented in the same works of art. Additionally, I think the reason that these characters and their movies are so popular, love able and relatable is because we see all of these emotions that we ourselves feel, reflected back at us on the screen. The characters’ stories, though very different, are seen as the same through one emotion and drawn together through the use of music that portrays that same emotion.
